(jp) = Two friends of a Lyft driver were killed after being hit by an SUV in Washington DC. Olvin Torres Velasquez and Jonathan Cabrera Mendez had just finished a late-night meal and called a Lyft to take them back home when they were hit by the SUV, which was evading traffic stops. The driver of the SUV and a passenger were taken to hospital, but their injuries were not life-threatening. The SUV had unpaid traffic tickets worth over $12,000, sparking questions about why it was allowed on the roads. The family of the victims are calling for answers.
