(jp) = Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed support for Russian President Vladimir Putin amidst rising tensions over the conflict in Ukraine during his visit to Russia from Monday to Wednesday. The ongoing Ukrainian invasion of Russia is expected to dominate discussions. Despite refusing to condemn Moscow’s invasion, China has attempted to maintain neutrality in the conflict. This visit is seen as an effort to deepen strategic cooperation between the two countries and sign “important bilateral documents”. The visit occurs after a US drone was destroyed over the Black Sea and has brought the two countries closer to direct confrontation.
