(jp) = Tech billionaire Steve Kirsch made headlines around the world for offering $100,000 to a female passenger on an airplane who refused to remove her face mask. Kirsch claims he made the “hypothetical” offer to question the strength of her belief that masks were an effective defense against viruses. However, the woman refused the offer, and Kirsch stated that he never shared false information about COVID-19. Kirsch, a veteran of Silicon Valley, is known for developing the first version of the optical mouse in 1980 and creating the search engine Infoseek, which was sold to Disney in 1999.
