(jp) = New York’s fourth graders have lost double the national average in maths and reading skills during the pandemic, wasting almost a year’s worth of learning time during remote education, according to an analysis of federal data released by the state comptroller Tom DiNapoli. The decline was more significant than education losses seen in other 45 states in maths and 38 states in reading. McKinsey & Company, analysed education data and found that New York students absorbed only 19 weeks of education during their 49 weeks of remote learning, losing 30 weeks or twice the national average equivalency of classroom time.
