(jp) = Over 54% of smart device owners received their first device as a gift or purchased it themselves. This was shown in a survey of 2,000 US adults conducted by OnePoll for Google Nest. The most popular first devices were cameras and streaming devices. Smart speakers, streaming devices, doorbells and lights were the most popular devices that respondents thought would be installed in their homes. Respondents of all ages expressed a desire for automation and routine without human input, especially in relation to lighting and music controls. The survey also explored the speed of adoption of different generations.
