(jp) = According to a recent opinion poll, a majority of Republican voters are more interested in selecting a candidate for the 2024 Presidential election who aligns with their beliefs, than in choosing someone who could beat Joe Biden. The CNN/SSRS survey found that 59% of respondents considered it more important that the party nominates a candidate who shares their positions on key issues, compared to the 41% who favoured a candidate capable of defeating Biden. The poll also looked at potential Republican nominees for 2024, with former President Donald Trump narrowly ahead of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
