(jp) = Former US Congressman Pat Schroeder, who was renowned for her outspoken feminist views over her 24-year tenure representing Colorado’s House of Representatives, has died at the age of 82. Schroeder suffered a stroke recently and died on Monday night, according to her former spokesperson. A pioneer for women and family rights, she never shied away from criticising her male colleagues in her efforts. In her legislative work, she forced government agencies to acknowledge the role played by women in leadership positions while continually pressing for women’s rights. Schroeder retired from Congress in 1997, going on to teach at Princeton University and working in politics.
